About 1453: Fall of Constantinople Demo

The Janissary, chapters one to fourYou were born Greek and taken as a boy. Now you are camped outside the city your grandmother prayed toward, close enough to count the stones in its wall.1453: Fall of Constantinople is a choice-driven, illustrated historical novel about the fifty-three days of the siege, April 6 to May 29, told from both sides of the walls. This free demo is the Janissary's first four chapters, about 45 minutes: the march to the City, the silence after the first shot, the stockade at night, and the men you eat beside.

What the sources sayAfter every chapter the game says what the sources make of it: attested, legend, or no source at all. April 20Four ships fight their way through the whole Ottoman fleet while the army watches from the shore, and win. The demo ends there, and then shows you where this account was being written down half a century later, and by whom. Three more witnessesIn the full game, Anna Notaras takes down four testimonies in Venice in 1500: the Janissary's, a baker's daughter's, an engineer's and a noble's, each living the same fifty-three days.

What one witness does changes what the others can do. Wishlist 1453: Fall of Constantinople to read the other three. Images and music are AI-assisted with human editorial control; text and code are human–AI co-written.
