About The Great Picture

In 2006, six artists—Jerry Burchfield, Mark Chamberlain, Jacques Garnier, Rob Johnson, Douglas McCulloh, and Clayton Spada—transformed an abandoned jet hangar at a decommissioned military air base in Irvine, California into a pinhole camera and made the world's largest print photograph. This immersive experience re-creates both the hangar and the image they produced, The Great Picture, on its 20th anniversary.
