Zhong Kui Survivor Demo is a free top-down survivor-like action roguelite set in Chinese ghost lore. You play as Zhong Kui, the legendary demon queller, on a full Act 1 night patrol: waves of yaoguai close in from every side, ritual weapons attack automatically, and you focus on movement, dodging, upgrade choices, and route decisions—until you defeat the Act 1 ghost king. This is not an endless arena. Each run begins on a night-patrol map where you choose between combat rooms, elite encounters, rest sites, strange events, relic rewards, and the boss gate.

Safer paths and riskier paths both matter: clear a room, collect incense gold and XP, then decide where to go next. Your goals are concrete—light soul lanterns, survive denser ghost tides, and suppress the Act 1 gatekeeper toad Chuyuan. Combat is built around automatic attacks plus manual positioning. Start with one ritual weapon, then pick upgrades that add weapons, boost stats, or grant relics. Blades, bows, bombs, lightning, darts, and more create different tempos; under the right conditions, weapons can evolve into stronger forms.

You must balance crowd clear, survivability, lantern objectives, and boss pressure—standing still is rarely enough. Act 1 introduces Chinese-inspired foes such as cloth-trouser ghosts, Bifang, Xuhao, and Scholar She, plus elite fiends and a ghost-king fight.
