While your armies advance, enemy forces are on the move as well: everyone moves, fights, and retreats during the same resolution phase. Anticipate enemy maneuvers, coordinate your forces, and prepare for the unexpected. Reacting isn't enough: you must predict. The Art of CommandBuild armies of pikemen, musketeers, cuirassiers, and artillery, alongside distinctive national units such as the Swedish Hakkapeliitta and Polish Lisowczycy. Place your armies under the command of historical figures such as Gustavus Adolphus of Sweden, Albrecht von Wallenstein, and the Count of Tilly.

In battle, units act according to their characteristics, positioning, and initiative. Like a general of the period, you won't directly control every unit, but you can intervene at critical moments by adjusting your tactical deployment, committing reserves, ordering a Push of Pikes, or calling for a retreat.
